This project consisted of us creating a sitting/sunning area on a slope that was overrun with pachysandra and old sheared shrubs.
First, we removed the shrubs by the roots and removed the pachysandra, as they were located where the sitting area is going to be. Then we made room for the new shrubs and trees.
Next, we had to level off a space for the sitting area. This was done by embedding large rock in the downhill slops and leveling the space with crushed stone and screenings.
The hardscape was to be irregular flagstone, which was laid atop the crushed stone and screening base. We installed two solid stone steps to lead into the area from one end and a stepping stone path out the other end.
Finally, we added flowering dogwoods, rhododendron, and cherry laurel to complete the setting.
