Previously we had installed a flagstone walkway and step way on the back of the house with plantings around. Now the client was ready to address the driveway at the street where a long dead tree and ivy dominated.
After removing all the weeds, ivy and old rotting timber retainers from this client’s driveway bank we dug out the rotten tree stump that was there. Thank goodness we had the front end loader, chains and forks! The equipment allowed us to make short work of removing the tree that once measured more than 30” in diameter.
We then used medium-sized rocks and boulderettes to create a natural rock collar at the base and a modified rockery up the slope.
After bio-soil was brought in, several shrubs were added along with numerous perennials. Bulbs were added in the fall to create a year-round garden to be enjoyed every time one goes in or out the drive.
